Weekend at the Cabin

Anya enjoyed her first family vacation this weekend. The Weldens all met up at a cabin near Elijay...the only weekend we could all be in the same place at the same time. Rachel and Seth are back from Turkey (for a little while)...it has been a year since we last saw them.

Anya went on her first fishing trip...in this stream. We just sat on the side and observed, but the weather was beautiful.

Nathan forgot to bring something warm. I told him I brought a really big long sleeved tee shirt that would definately fit him. We got a good laugh when he put it on (I tried to convince him quarter length sleeves are a good look for him).

Anya certainly did not suffer from a lack of attention.

I woke up at 2AM wondering where Anya had run off to. I headed out to the living room and this is what I found.

Bouncy Seat

We tried Anya in her bouncy seat and she really loves it! Before it was too upright for her to handle, then I realized we put a piece of it together backwards. Once I fixed that, it laid back further, making it work for her. It appears as though she is swatting at the toys, but I think it was just an accident.

Finally...sleeping in her own bed

Anya had a difficult time transitioning to sleeping in her own bed. She either wanted to be held or in bed with us. We have been working on it, and I think we have finally turned the corner. She is finally sleeping in her own bed. I captured one of our first successes on film (or, in pixels).

Her Mimi (Nathans Mom) gave the tip about rolling up blankets to make her feel secure, and the teddy bear quilt from Grandma (Amelia's Mom) makes it feel more like our bed. I think both were important in this very exciting moment.

First "Play Date"

Nathan says our kids will never have "play dates"...he thinks it sounds yuppie. But Anya had her first play date with Mackenzie a few weeks ago. She was born 5 days before Anya, and they were both tiny little 5 pounders. They sympathize with each other - if one of them cries, the other chimes in.

Coming Home

I have been quite delinquent in my blogging. Below are some photos just before we came home from the hospital.

She is so tiny in her carseat. They actually made her sit in it for half an hour hooked up to heart and respiratory monitors before we could take her home due to her small size.

Ah...finally home.

We took Anya to Irmo, SC to meet her Great-Grandma Welden who recently turned 92 years old. She loved meeting Anya.
